Vera's River Copper Bracelet

There's a steadiness to a river that never stops moving current after current, year after year, smoothing everything it touches. That's the feeling I had in mind, twisting these copper strands together, again and again, until they held that same quiet motion.

Each strand is hand-twisted right here at my bench three lengths of copper wire worked together with the same pliers I've used for years, then set and capped by hand at each end. No two cuffs come out exactly alike. The twist always finds its own rhythm.

Roman soldiers wore copper into battle. Craftsmen wore it on the job for centuries, long before anyone called it wellness. Men who work with their hands have always reached for it, and plenty still do.
